Family found a child to adopt via facebook

A family found a 17months old child to adopt through facebook. Many families struggle for years to adopt a child. Private adoption is becoming easier through social networks.

  1. This story is absolutely incredible. I know that the Social Networking sites have been beneficial in many ways, but I never considered them as a potential means to adopt a child (private adoption). I actually have 2 friends who have been going through the adoption process for quite some time, so I am somewhat aware of the considerable amount of time (patience), financial investment, and emotional strength needed to undergo the process. There are millions of people out there wanting to adopt a child. Hopefully this story will inspire them to consider the possibility of utilizing the social media networks to further their cause.

  2. I did not even know we can adopt a baby through Facebook, and I am wondering if this is legal. I understand the adoption process takes months or years, but it is much safer than adopting through internet. In this video, the couple did not exactly explain how they find the baby (communication between biological parents and adoptive), and what was the process of adopting that little boy. I do not recommend adopting a baby through internet because it is not safe, but I agree using private adoption agency because the process is not long and many people use these agencies. However, this couple was very fortunate of finding the baby without any legal problem, and the baby is healthy.

  3. What an amazing story, but they didn't really say what process they went through to get the baby. They probably started with facebook, chatting with friends and families about how they want to adopt a baby. And from there the connection started. If that is the case then its good. But if not and they just saw an ad about baby adoption, I would find that really disturbing.

Im really happy for the family and the little boy but I really dont feel this is the right means to adopt a child because the world isn't a safe place for such a delicate matter.

I also want to know why they aren't legal restrictions to posting such on facebook. I hope this wont escalate to stealing of babies and then putting it on Twitter this time around "Baby for Adoption"

  4. Hello. I do not believe the couple said they literally adopted the child through the Internet, but rather that they made the connection with the natural parents via Facebook. The link was made via social networking.
